Hello my fellow chicken friends. I am interested in knowing your thoughts whether one of my 15-week old Speckled Sussex chicks is a pullet or cockerel. I am leaning hard toward pullet but have been wrong in the past. Comb and wattles appear to be pullet but I’m uncertain if I am seeing some cockerel saddle feathers blooming.
Thank you in advance for your opinions.

I would say pullet… though, you should probably get a second opinion. The comb is a bit paler and smaller for a cockerel at 15 weeks. Most chickens’ sex should be identifiable by week 6 via comb and wattle. Not sure about the feathers.

I have two Sussex’s and they linked up really really quick and I was like oh my gosh! I got two Roos welp here another soup! But they never got saddle feathers and big wattle/comb. Currently around 4 1/2 - 5 months old

Defiantly pullet

Thank for your replies and help. This is my first experience with SS and so far, I really like their sweet personalities. Thanks again.

Yes she is beautiful. We got our first Speckled Sussex in April and love them. We ended up with 2 beautiful cockerels that are very friendly and 7 hens. My avatar is our cockerel KC.
