Speckled Sussex question

Hello all! Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer. Here is a little history; the end of april/beg. may I ordered 3 speckled sussex pullets. On one of the chicks legs I noticed feathers starting to grow off the legs/feet. I thought this would go away as the chick grew. Well, the feathers, while not very long, are still there. So, I started to take a closer look at this chick. It seemed a bit fluffier than the other two. But again, didn't think much of it at the time being as chicks can vary. It still seems more fluffy than the other two. But here is what is starting to make me really wonder about this chick, the legs are yellow and there is no white on it at all - as compared to the other two SS chicks. My question is - could this still be a speckled sussex, or is it a mix of two varieties, or what? I will get a picture up a little later today. Also, what would you do in this situation?

ETA: forgot to mention that one of the chicks has turned out to be a roo. 1 out of 3 is a pretty high ratio when ordering sexed pullets, isn't it?

Not having white feathers at 1 month is not necessarily a dealbreaker, I am pretty positive that a few of mine (pullets) have stayed all-dark til later than that. But the legs/feet should be pink, not yellow -- that alone would make me real suspicious.

I have read that there are some lines of light sussex that have occasional feathered feet show up (presumably from outcrossing to brahmas in past generations) but it would seem odd to me to see that in a *speckled* sussex.

Maybe apprise the breeder/hatchery of the situation (apparently misidentified chick, and 1/3 pullets a cockerel) and they will probably say 'wait and see' but at least now you'll have got your foot in the door so to speak.

Good luck,

Pat
