I have had a rash of early-reddening pullets(not Orps) this year, so maybe, just maybe I'm wrong, Carrie. Hope so! I have no problem being wrong if it's a better result for you!

Thank all, I guess a roo will be ok as I will end up needing a roo after all now won't I?

I even took a big flashlight out to the coop and turned the lights on and took the flashlight in with me to be sure. yep, face is that red. I was looking more at the feather shapes so I was sure it was a pullet. I will try to get some eggs hatched next spring and will already have my head roo waiting.

I would love to have a splash roo also.

Just thought I'd throw in here that it appears to be a cockerel to me. Looks a lot like my Geronimo did at the same age. My other orps had little or no comb or wattles until way later.
