Hello. I have a newly hatched call duck that is having some problems. I gave eggs away as I was not going to hatch or eat them and the woman I gave them to had to intervene with this one baby. She helped it out of the egg because she thought it was getting shrink wrapped. It still had a good amount of egg sac still to go. It also had trouble walking . As she works full time , she did not have time to spend with it and I asked if I could take it and see what I could do. I have never incubated and hatched. I allowed one of my call hens to hatch a clutch last year but have no experience with newly hatched. She brought the baby over last night at 5:30. It was aprox 36 hours old. The emibical was protruding a bit and it had alot of gunk hardened on it. So much so that 1 eye was glued shut. It also kept falling and getting stuck on it's back. I encouraged it to drink and used an eye dropper to give it electrolytes and water. And bathed off as much as I could . It did not eat until very early this am, say around 3am. I have also fed it a mashed egg yolk, brewers yeast and some wet chick feed. Today she seems so much better but still has a bit of a wide stance. But is getting around better and eating and drinking. It can walk but has a bit of a funny gait. Long story, but I wanted to give all details. MY QUESTION IS: should I band her legs if she can walk albeit a bit clumsy? And her legs do not go out to the side when she sleeps, rather tucked under. I will post a video when she wakes up from a nap. Thank you
