I have 5 gf in a chicken run; one female and 4 males. I would like them to reassume free ranging (they were free ranging but kept leaving our property for the female. Now I have the female with them).
I want to let 2 males out of the coop. Any tips on splitting the flock? They are very flock-y.

Thanks.

If you let two of them out they should hang around because of their desire to be with the other guineas.

Guineas are a flock bird. You need more guineas for them to be able to have proper flock dynamics. You especially need more guinea hens since they prefer to pair up during breeding season..

How do you go about separating two gf from the flock?

I use a long stick. If I have a group in one area that I want to separate int o two areas, I would open the gate/door. Gently move the whole group to the back of the area, and step to the side and carefully use the stick gently to cause the guineas that I am trying to move to move toward the door while keeping my body between the door and the other guineas.
