Mayberry (really!)
Sorry if this has been covered, I couldnt find the answer I was looking for.
One of my cuckou Marans lays eggs that are splotchy/spotted. Not like a speckled egg, (I have an EE that lays olive eggs with speckles- very nice). This is more like the pigment was unevenly applied in the factory. So they are splotchy rather than speckles. The splotches are darker than the base color.

Since this is a young hen, in her first season of laying I wonder if this is just something she will outgrow? It isnt bad, my customers appreciate all the pretty eggs, I am just curious.
I will try and get a good picture.

Here is a picture. You see a light brown egg, a regular Maran egg and then two splotchies. One has the distinct top to bottom drip markings. Will she outgrow this? Its kind of cute. What causes it?
