My crew free ranges all day on our property but when I get home I find they have parked themselves on the back patio looking in the sliding glass doors. Now what they are looking for is treats. They know... Mum gets home from work - she give them treats and their supper. I don't go out the sliding glass doors - actually go out the opposite side of the house. But they can't see IN that door. So they park themselves out there until i get myself ready to go feed them. In the meantime, I swear they have saved up their poop ALL day for this event. So my patio is covered with chicken/turkey/rooster and guinea POOP. UGH. Anyone have any good ideas for getting poop off of concrete other than draggin out the hose - which is way over at the coop???? Spoiled lil brats! I'm just hopeful the 3 outdoor cats don't see all that fun and start adding to the glory!!! HUMPH!

When you feed them treats don't feed them by the house. Not sure how to get of the poop off without a hose, but to keep them from going on your patio try using a spray bottle and spray them every time they get close.

Hmmm... easiest thing I can think of, since they seem to have trained themselves to sit there, is to put down a tarp before you leave for work. That way, you just scoop up the tarp when ready and dump it into a compost pile (assuming you have one).

Sounds adorable though! LOL

I never feed them at the house. I always feed them at the coop. Thats the odd thing - why sit and wait at a door nothing comes out of? I have to yell GIRLIES from the coop and they haul ***** to get there first. I'm SOOOOO grateful that I trained them with GIRLIES tho. Yesterday when I went home for lunch the entire crew of guineas (7) were down by the hard road. A good half-mile. I put down my windows and yelled GIRLIES the entire way up the lane and they all followed.... almost beat the car to get there. Of course I had to give them treats then. It is adorable.. bu the poop is NOT. The tarp sounds like an interesting idea.... when I'm sitting on the hammock chairs, one will inevitablly come sit with me in the chair... so I don't want to discourage that with the spray bottle. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Thanks for some good ideas tho!

My chickens and ducks are the same way. Our patio is covered though, and I think they do it to get out of the heat. Cool concrete, air conditioned house.....I don't know. Our patio is completely covered in poop too.

My chickens sit on our porch because it is in the shade. Our poor wood deck covered in poop... I just cleaned it yesterday. I swept it, hosed it, scrubbed it. Most of it came off, but the rest I covered up with Anirondack chairs (also had to be cleaned). Makes me so mad when I want to sit out there and read a book and there is poop all over the place!

I guess I'm going to clean it off every week now, at least...
