sporting bird crumble for chicks?

Hi,

My new chicks arrived from MPC today! Four little orpingtons. The lady at Agway said that the developer sporting bird crumble for my 8 week birds would be ok for the new arrivals. Certainly they've been eating it fine all day, but what do people at BYC think?

I ask because on the spec sheet it says that game birds less than 1 week of age shouldn't be fed this stuff. Then, of course, mine aren't game birds... The protein content is 22% and calcium is at 1.4%.

That will work fine. Some folks always feed game bird grower to their birds, like NYReds.

Yep - I've fed mine 24% gamebird starter when I ran out and they were just fine.
