I’m so happy that it’s spring again, and so are my girls. I have two barred rocks and two barnyard mix bantams. They have a harder time in winter, and I’m not able to let them out to free range because of the snow, which they HATE. But now that it’s spring, they get lots of outdoor time to enjoy the sun and the warmth. For us, spring also means coop cleaning, and not just cleaning about the coop, which I do every two weeks anyways. This means taking out all of the old shavings, dirt, and poop that has accumulated in the run over the past year.I like to do deep litter in the run, I just add lots of new shavings and leaves and in spring we get lots of great compost for our plants. Yesterday I spent almost 5 hours cleaning the run, as well as the feed and water containers and all of their logs. It took a while, but it was worth it! The girls are super happy and the coop looks great! I just wanted to share some pictures of the fresh clean coop. Feel free to share your pictures too!
