Spring Gilmanor 2014

This will be my first swap ever - not just Gilmanor. I'm hoping not to get overwhelmed! I'm not bringing anything, but will be looking for a variety of Heritage and production pullets & hens.

I have a question, though. I was told by more than one person that people tend to bring their "worst" stock to swaps, and that I probably wouldn't find anything I'd want to buy because the chickens tend to not look so good or well-kept. A couple stories of worms or diseases emerging once the birds got home.

With such a large showing, I imagine there must be more than a few solid sellers. Any tips on how to spot them? I'll be keeping my eye on this thread, and hopefully be able to put together a "shopping list" in my head. Or maybe a pre-sale? Or is that not kosher?

This newbie thanks you in advance for your tolerance,
Maria:/
