What is a good bean or grain to sprout for chicken snacks? What do you recommend? A little project I thought of trying out for fun and maybe even be a way to save money later. I know black eye peas sprout quickly but are they good for chickens?
Have a lovely day people

Barley is a great option. It sprouts quickly and forms a nice mat you can cut in pieces and feed straight to the chickens. It takes about a week to have 2-3” of growth, depending on the temperature of the room and how fresh the seed is.

Thanks I'll check to see if Winco has some unhulled barley. I might try to see if sprouted barley is tasty for humans too.

Some beans need to be cooked to remove toxins and improve digestability. Grains are quick and easy to sprout. Alfalfa, millet, red wheat, etc.
Thanks, good to know about the beans safety
