spur or 5th toe?

Hello.
i have a silkie chick that is 5 weeks old.
It apears as though it has an extra limb but we aren't sure if its an extra toe or a spur.we have heard that hens can have suprs too, so we are hoping you would be able to help.since it is a straight run chick we cant be sure of the gender, so this will help emensly.although we dont have a picture right now we will upload one shortly.

Silkies are supposed to have 5 toes per foot, and occasionally will have more than five. Spurs are one of the last things to grow on a bird ( at least nearly a year old--maybe even older). You will never see them on young birds, other than the spur bud, and both genders have them (just as boy and girl mammals all have nipples). Also, there are some breeds where spurs are common on hens.
