I currently own 4 chickens (2 Welsummers and 2 White Australorps) which are supposed to be all females. The chickens are now 5 1/2 weeks old and all have tiny little spur-like spikes on each of their legs. Are they females or cockorels?

All chickens get these little start of 'spurs.' Roosters don't get actual spurs until at least 8 months of age. All my hens had them 2 years ago. No worries. They do not signify a rooster.

(Did I just hear a big sigh of relief?)
