does squating mean my chickens will be laying soon?

My east egger girls just turned 20 weeks this past week and have started this weird squating behavior. They will walk up to me and squat down. Sometimes if I try to pick them they hunch down.

Hi! I just read about the squatting you're referring to and it said it means they are sexually mature and are getting ready to start laying. It's generally a position they take with a roo. One, possibly two, of mine just recently started laying and do this to me all the time. Of course, I was all happy about my eggs and now I've gotten no eggs in 3 days. Thinking of changing my boxes and adding golf balls to encourage them to lay
