Hello... So I've been getting more and more into gardening in the past 2 years, and we had gourds growing this year. last month, we bought spaghetti squash, pumpkins, and more gourds, as well as 8 pumpkins/large gourds from other people. I got all the seeds out and baked the pumpkin and squash. I was in the process of drying them out, and apparently, they started to sprout because there was too much moisture. It's getting closer to winter here in PA, so does anyone have any recommendations for growing squash in the winter? We don't have good soil, a lot of it is a rock. Only about 1 foot is soil. I was trying to dry out the seeds so we could get soil for them in the spring. We use most of our land for our ducks in the winter, so any structure can't be big and we have about 300+ pumpkin seeds and around 100 spaghetti squash seeds. I haven't done the gourds yet... I did put them in the soil in a container for now so they don't die.

Squash needs 70 degrees soil to germinate and a long season to produce fruit. I'm not sure if it could be grown indoors. Another issue with seeds from purchased squash is that they cross pollinate so you most likely will get an unappetizing mix of squash, not what you purchased.
I knew I would probably have to pollinate them since they're store-bought... 🙃
