Squatting

One of my silkie hens is squatting and kicking the ground, is she having trouble trying to lay? She's two in March and laid an egg yesterday

is she flapping her wings some and acting like she wants to throw a fit? she may be just trying to take a dirt bath.

Is she doing it when you walk close? Often that a dominate thing. It's squatting to show you're dominate.

No, she's very comfortable with me and we are more equals than anything and she wasn't trying to take a dirt bath there was no wing flapping
Just squatting and kicking the ground like a tap dancer

are you sure it isn't a rooster? They do a little dance when they want to mount a hen. Just a thought since you said the chicken was two years old. Or did you mean months?
