Kiddie pool emergency blanket hardware cloth monstrosity
Built to spec wood full term brooder
Finally think im going to start re using this last brooder. all the others were one and done basically. not the biggest fan of improvised brooders at this point.
I don't have any pictures, but I started with something like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08J3K4WST/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I put the blue paper shop towels on the floor and used a brooder plate for heat. It did OK with 22 birds until 3 weeks old when I moved them to grow out cages. It was a pain changing the towels every day, and twice a day towards the end.
Most of my hatches since then have been smaller and I haven't used the play pen since. I got two large totes and a ceramic bulb for heat. I started out still using the shop towels and would move the birds from one tote to the other when I needed to change the towels. I'm still using that system, but, with my last hatch, I changed to pine shavings for bedding after the first couple of days on shop towels. I like that system a lot better other than having to deal with their constantly filling the feeder and waterer with pine.
