I just heard this term while reading over here & got curious. Currently I have hatching eggs (& chicks) in my Brinsea ECO 20. They should finish over the weekend. However, my neighbor let me keep one of chickens in my pen for a while (a Flarrey Eye Grey) & she started laying eggs (I have 2 roos). I collected 2 of her eggs before he took her back to breed her. Last week, he gave me 8 of her eggs because he doesn't want my rooster's bloodline. Since my ECO (aka Eggo) was full, i put the 6 that were not cracked in my homemade incubator. I didn't do a great job making this (hence the Eggo purchase). It only has a light bulb for heat & a tray for water (no fan, no thermostat).
So far, 5 are still alive & developing. I have no problem transferring them to the Eggo when this hatch is done, but I ordered hatching eggs due to arrive later this week. If the FEG eggs are in there when the new eggs come, I will have a staggered incubation. Not sure what to do. I love the FEG & want her back, but since that is not likely, I would love her babies. Any advice?
How long can I let shipped eggs sit before incubating? Some of the eggs hatching currently were at least 2 or 3 weeks old when they went in the Eggo.
BTW: of the 2 I collected before he took back his hen, 1 was clear & the other developed a blood ring
