Staining wood hatcher?

I have a hatcher made out of 1/2" cabinet grade plywood, is it ok to stain it? and what about polyurethane?

It's ok to stain and polyurethane , but it will need to air out 2 weeks or so. The urethane has a very strong smell .

Yeah I got it stained but I have so many eggs hatching over the next month I will probably just wait it out on the poly but it will look really nice when I get it stained
