so we had 2 chickens laying on a reagular basis. Barbecue every day, Goldie 5-6 days in a row then a day off.
Well Barbecue decided to go broody and was trying to hatch the golf balls in the nest. I told her they will never turn into chickens and that hers and Goldie's egg will also never hatch. She said that she was the chicken and knows better then I do how to hatch chickens then asked me if I laid eggs well that ended the argument and Barbecue won. However I won the war was able to break her from being broody.
During this time Goldie has stopped laying regularly  she gives us an egg takes 2 day off then we get an egg...
Also during this broody time Chicky started laying. :celebrate
So with 3 hens laying we are averaging 1 egg a day. :barnie Barbecue has not started back up, but was in the nest box today (I'm hoping she's not going broody again) she left the box on her own accord but did not leave an egg :he
So I'm now stalking the nest box because no one is on a schedule of when they lay there eggs :hit

Keep and eye on them and make sure that they aren’t doing anything unusual. They might start to slow down on laying because of the winter coming ahead. If they are still not laying for a while they might be egg bound. If they are soak them in a warm bath and give them some crushed up Tums. I would keep her in the house for the night and she will probably pass the egg. But hopefully it doesn’t seem that she is egg bound.

A couple of days ago I looked her over and did not feel anything I will keep an eye on her and check her again. So far she's acting very normal. I have not checked Goldie however her last egg was in the 11, I'll check her tomorrow if she does not lay an egg and see if I feel anything

How long does it normally take broody hen to start laying after she's done being broody

I think Barbecue likes not laying eggs still waiting for her to start up again and she does not come running over to me to squat like she did before her broody thing. Goldie is back to her normal laying so that’s nice.
