My second cockerel I hatched has started to challenge me at just 13 weeks old so we decided he needs to go and live with the young pheasants in a different part of the forest to Fred, the first cockerel. I have to admit to being frightened of cockerels and was very disappointed when 2 of my 4 chicks were male.
We took Stan this morning and let him go - he strutted off quite happily and never looked back. Unfortunately it is now pouring with rain - I hope he has the sense to get under cover. He hates the rain!
We checked on Fred too and he is doing really well and looks very content so I am really pleased. A happy ending so far!!
