Looked out the window seen about 20 starlings in my chicken feeder.Grabbed the 16ga. poked it out window checked where my shot would fly then fired a round off.
Amazed I shot 6 with 1 shot, I feel I got my moneys worth on that shell. I would posion them except there are sparrows and doves and song birds here to. Always know where your shot is going to fly I shot my riding mower one day trying to shoot a hawk that was on the fence. Hope to see all my friends at the opposum lodge soon.

I wouldn't do that at my place. I dont get me wrong. I hate starlings and english sparrows. Both are non native. Problem is unless you are using steel shot, your birds may ingest the led pellets that are not in the starlings(on the ground and yes they WILL see them...) and they can get lead poisioning just like it ducks do.

I HATE starlings. I pick them off with a pellet gun when they come to my suet cage and I don't have much else to do. Very satisfying.
They make great snacks for my pet possum.

If you wanted to put the Starlings to good use, contact your local Bird of Prey rescue and rehab. I read online that some raptor rescues will accept starlings as free food for the raptors. I always thought that was a cool way to "recycle" the unwanted starlings back into the environment.
