I've almost always had some in my flock over the years and they are hardy, friendly and gentle (my children and granddaughter made lap pets of them), and good layers of large, brown eggs. We have a poultry clinic this week, planning on attending as a family so that even the littles learn about them. 3 littles, 5 year old twins and an 8 year old.
