Hello, everyone. I am new to this chicken business. Here are the flock. Aside from #1, I’m not sure of any of their sex. I have a good idea that they are mostly pullets (especially #1 and #2), but am too inexperienced to be certain. As far as breed, I’m pretty dang sure #1 is a brahma based on photos I’ve seen, but I’m finding the other four hard to identify, maybe because they are so young. Ages are a guess.

1. Light Brahma
2. Dunno. Could be a sexlinked blue layer; could be one of the blue australorps people like coming out with, etc. What color are the bottom of her feet? Yellow or white?
3. clean-legged Cuckoo Marans?
4. Easter Egger
5. Blue-laced Red Wyandotte.

Mostly agree. #2 looks like it has yellowish skin under the slate color on the feet so probably Blue Plymouth Rock. #3 appears to have the cuckoo pattern but a Marans should have white or pinkish white legs. @ssg Where did you get the younger chickens?

Edited to add they all look like pullets.

White? Fleshy?

Just from people around town. #3 and #4 were pulled together from a big mix of 8 week olds.

That’s good to hear!

It still looks yellow to me so she may be what the hatcheries are calling a Blue Plymouth Rock-a Blue Andalusian male over Barred Rock female that produces sex-linked chicks. It all depends on where those folks got the chicks from, but I'm wondering if #3 is another Easter Egger or Olive Egger. 🤔

Am I seeing mites on #1's face?
I’m assuming you mean those little black specks. I took a closer and couldn’t see any obvious evidence of mites. I will keep an eye out.

You’re right. I took a look and they are quite yellow! The girl I got her from called her a sapphire gem, but when I asked another person, they’d never heard of it. Either way, she has become quite pretty.

You think #3 might produce colored eggs? The lady said she thought she was a barred rock, but I assumed that meant mixed or unknown. Would be neat to have some blue and green eggs. :)

I edited my original post with their names. Should’ve shared from the beginning!

That sounds right. "Sapphire Gems" were created by a Czech hatchery, Dominant CZ, using Blue Rock males over Barred Rock females per their website. Here's a picture of one I raised last year that's about the same age as yours.

I honestly don't know what #3 is. It's not a Barred Rock, they should definitely have yellow legs. There are a lot of hybrids that use the barring or cuckoo genes to create colorful egg layers that can be sexed at hatch. At the moment that would be my best guess as to what it is. You'll just have to wait for eggs to be sure.
