We’ve got some mid-century architecture influence here. Coop will be just over a foot above ground, and about 5x8 ft. We will have a covered run, then another opening to our raised garden bed area for them to have more roaming space. Just bought the framing lumber today! Plan for a 5-6 foot nesting area, storage for supplies, and a poop hammock!

Very nice! May I suggest you raise the coop to 2 feet. That will give you some more room for the chickens to roam under the shade of the coop!

Thanks! I had read a few people mentioning their chickens hanging out under the coop. It seems like a great way to extend the size of their run.

Question: Is there a way to do that but still build it on a skid foundation?

Wow that’s a cool design 😊 We are almost done with our coop and run but we have a farm style design 😋

If you wanted to keep the Skid Foundation, I'm pretty sure you could pour some concrete pilings and build the structure up off the ground.

I will look into that. Thanks!
Here is a couple of pics of the coop that I'm building. Half of the interior of the Coop "House" is raised about 2' off the ground. Easy for me to walk in and clean but raised to give the hens a safe and secure feeling in their nesting boxes etc. And you can see the Run.

I cleared an area about 20'x20' in front of the Coop & Run and plan on putting some raised beds and adding some fencing to create a mini-free range area for the birds. A couple of chairs and to relax and watch the birds...maybe enjoy a cold beverage or so while Chicken Watching...!

Love that old window!

Love that old window!
Thanks Ms @Longhornlove !

Mrs Slippy has had that window for nearly 20 years and when I was framing out the structure she pulled it out of the barn and I framed out a little space for it. Same with the old door but I had to plane that rascal down and screw it all together.

By the way, we're lovin' y'alls coop build too!
