Hello everyone
I joined because we recently built a coop with a run and bought some Welsh Harlquen Ducks. One silver female, one gold female and two drakes. They are almost a year old. Doing research on them has lead me to this website tons of time so I thought I'd join.

I'm a artists and a stay at home mom of 3, a 1 year old boy, 3 year old girl and another 5 year old boy. Our last name is Fisher so I call them my little fish littlest fish, middle fish and little fish. My husband works as an engineer on the national natural gas pipe line, it's start is here in ohio. We live on 5 acers that we just purchased last year in hopes of creating a homestead. We decided to start with ducks for eggs because we have a little pond and after some research landed on Welsh harlquen as our main layers and Cayuga because I think they are so beautiful. We just got the Welsh and are in search of the Cayuga. We also plan to have a beef cow, milk cow, pigs, meat chickens and bee hives. We started a "back to Eden garden" last year and was amazed! If you havnt heard of that kind of gardening, Google it! We were not raised in this life style and want this kinda of life for our kids so we're just diving in and trying to learn as much as possible. Thanks for having me looking forward to reading everyone's post.

Greetings and welcome to BYC! So glad you joined us. Thanks for sharing the pic. Very pretty ducks. Nice to see that hardware cloth too! Protection is best! There's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads. Browse around and see what interesting stuff you can find. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Please make yourself at home!

Oh, if you haven't done so already, PLEASE put at least your general location in your profile. It could be very important if/when you ask for or offer help or advice. You know, climate issues and such. I recommend at least your state as most folks won't be able to figure out where if you put anything more specific (county, town, street, etc) by itself. Old folks like me :old will never remember & look there first. To add it, mouse hover over Account top right and a drop down will appear. Click on Personal Details and scan down. You'll see the spot for Location. Then go to the bottom and save changes. Thanks! Hope you enjoy the site!

G’Day from down under Fisherlmiranda :frow Welcome!

Your ducks are adorable!

In case you have not found it yet, BYC has a Duck Forum

I do hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out. There are some at the bottom of the page which are Duck specific.

If you would like to share more Pictures and Stories of your flock or other critters [I see a couple of dogs in your picture and there are lots of dog and cat lovers here also] you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
