Hello everyone! I just set my eggs for my second hatch. My Cornish decided to start laying for the first time since before Christmas and I have 5 eggs to set. I added 8 eggs from my mixed flock so if my Cornish hatch rate is really low, any chick(s) that do hatch should have some buddies. I will be doing staggered hatches from here on (~a week a part). I have 2 incubators. One for starting and one for hatching. In hopes of getting a better hatch rate I decided to insulate. I used the styrofoam that came with the incubator and tore a window in the front so I can see inside and I set the other piece of styrofoam on top. I'm doing this because my last hatch was 25% and I think that was from the temps not being stable enough.
Actually, I think I’ll make this one the insulation for the hatching incubator because I don’t need to be able to see in with the lid shut on the starter incubator.
Also, I have a question. Should the eggs be point down or point up? I've always read point down, but my incubator says point up.
