Hello. While I am not new to ducklings, I recently found out I would be new to duck hens. We ordered female ducks and got one packing peanut male. They are now 3 weeks old today. That being said, all but one is making a weird sound I never experienced with my drake flock. The only one not makibg the sound is my packing peanut. The others are peeping, but at the beginning, end, or both there is deep sound. I think it is them just coming into their quacks, but wanted to pick your brains. They have clean bedding, fresh water/food multiple times a day, and get outdoortime with a kiddie pool to make sure they are cleaning their nares. No coughing, no snot or spit, no cankers, no lodged objects. Just me being paranoid because I was not expecting the sound difference to be so drastic!

Quaxing is about right! That makes me feel so much better. I currently have 8 mature ducks, but I got 4 straight run and 4 i hatched from e-bay eggs in my incubator hoping for at least some hens and I got all drakes. To fix that I ordered 1 crested pekin female and 3 khaki campbell females. I love the ducks so much and can't wait for bakers eggs and a supply of lower-cost meat birds.

Just don't name your food! ;)
