Hi,
I am going to get chickens again now that we are settled again, for a few year anyway, and ran across this forum while looking for chicken breeders/hatcheries near me.
We used to have a small flock when we lived on 5 acres way out in the country. They free ranged and I never lost any chickens to predators. Now we live in the 'country' not too far out, on the outskirts of some subdivisions, and I have just under an acre and I am going to have to build a coop and keep them in a fenced area. I have had coons eat my cats food and last year we had a hawk nest in the woods behind our house and I am afraid we will have a little more difficulty.
I only want 8-10, but can't find a hatchery near me (GA, near Chattanooga, TN) to pick them up. So, I might have to get +15 to get them shipped. My favorite breed is Dominiques. But I have also raise Barred Rocks, White Rocks, Buff Orrpingtons, Silver Laced Wyndottes, Rhode Island Reds and I had the most gorgeous Austrolope rooster!! (Forgive my spelling!).
I would love to get some Dominiques if anyone knows of hatchery within 30 mile +/- from Chattanooga.
I am excited to be able to talk about chickens with other chicken lovers!!!
