I have 6 hens that are now 8 months old. They have all been raised together since day one. Recently, my buff Orpinton (Harriet) has gone from being one of top 3 in the pecking order down to the bottom. My coop has two roosting posts. Five of my girls are sleeping on the top bunk and my poor Harriet is all alone on the bottom bunk. But the last two nights I've found her all alone outside the coop roosting on a chair. I put her back in the coop both nights but now I'm wondering why she doesn't want to go inside at night. I don't see any pecking wounds on her. But I don't want her to stay out in the rain and cold. Any suggestions on why she's doing this and/or how to fix it?

Check her real well under her tail or around the head someone in very uncertain ways told her to leave might want to remove top hens a couple days one at a time changes the pecking order

Your hens are maturing. The pecking order becomes more important as they mature. They also require more room than previously, as it becomes less about the group and more about the individual and her potential offspring. How big is your set up? Generally there should be multiple roost options so everyone can get away if necessary.

How big is your coop, in feet by feet?
Dimensions, and pics, would help here.
Are they all laying?
