I have 23 chickens, and have been dealing with Stick Tight Fleas. I have been coating my hens heads with Vaseline and dusting them with DE almost daily. I have been cleaning out their nesting boxes every 2 weeks and with a hose end sprayer I have been spraying dawn liquid dish soap in their boxes after they are done laying. I also spray the floor down with dawn as well every 2-3 days to kill any larva. I do pick the fleas off of their heads with tweezers.
Has any one else dealt with this problem and what was your solution. This has been going on for over a month now. Most places say to use a chemical to kill the fleas, but I don't want to harm my chickens and I do want to enjoy my egg production.
I should add that I do have free range chickens and we do live in the country. I do try to spray down as much of their roaming area with DE, but it is impossible to get all of the areas they roam to.
Thanks
