STICKY/SHRINK WRAPPED CHICK WHAT KIND OF CHANCE?

I have an egg that was pipped over 24 hours and not coming out. Peeping away at me if I moved the egg. I did some reading here on shrink wrapped chicks but I am unsure what the difference is. I got some warm water and started misting the egg membrane and in a few it came out more. I was able to give it some water to help it out and not get dehydrated. It is still stuck on the back and head/neck but I want to see if it will free up on its own. What kind of chance does it have to recover?

Shrink wrapped: before pipping, both inner and out membranes dry tight around the chick; caused by too little humidity throughout incubation

Sticky chick: after pipping, the liquids dry becoming glue-like followed by concrete-like; caused by too little humidity during lockdown

It looks like it is already out so it should survive.

It should be fine. Dampen the sticky stuck parts to loosen membrane and shell, and enable clean fluffy drying. If there is no yolk sac on the outside, you and it should be just fine!

Congrats on your timely rescue.

Well 1 hour after the pic it was out of the shell. It was weak and lying on its back for hours but now its up and moving. I tried to put it in the brooder but the other chicks got big overnight and were running it over and pecking at it. Breaking my rule I put some food and water in the incubator and showed it. I hope overnight it can perk up and be ready for the brooder soon. It has plenty of attitude and a loud peep to protest with. I can't believe the amount of water that evaporated so quickly

You can put him alone in a butter container for safety in the brooder, or a bread pan lined with cloth. I use a slat celler for early water and food in the corners of small containers. He'll be up and about tomorrow evening, or sooner.

I had one so stuck that after I pulled the shell off I ran warm water over it so it could straighten out. I put it back into the incubator to dry. Today it is just fine. It does have bent toes from the long struggle but that is all.

This one does have some bent toes and some walking problems. I think this is partially due to the grate in the incubator so I pulled it out and gave the incubator a quick rinse and put it back in. I should know in 24 hours how well it will do
