Hey all, I am on day 7.

It has been a rough go - my broody punked out on day 5 so switched the eggs to an LG still air bator.
Was not planning on any of this... First time with an incubator and all.
Temps are staying steady at 100.6 at center of eggs but top of eggs is 103.3.
They are on an auto turner so that is helping some.
1) Should I try to decrease the temp? ( with vent holes not dial)
So, I have ordered a fan and it will be here in a few days, but until then what should I do.
I know the clutch is likely a complete loss, but I just can't bring myself to give up yet.
2)Would love to candle but they are super dark FBCMarans eggs. Any other ways to determine viability?

Thanks!

With a still air you should shoot for 102F at top of eggs so your really only a degree high. Have you attached a milk or juice cap to the temperature control? Those with LG's swear by it and it makes a lot of sense. They are notorious for major temp swing with just a nudge of the control so the larger dial aids in very small movement/adjustment.

I don't see why this hatch is a bust, sounds viable to me unless the broody was off the eggs for a very extended time before you got them in the incubator.

I have my incubator at 99.5 its always good and stays on temp I would try it

You guys are awesome...

We are now rocking 99.8 middle, 101 at top.

Added piece of plastic on dial for more minor adjustments.

Will keep you guys posted. Wish me luck!

My still air incubator holding at 99.9 constant. I'm using a water thermostat and a dimmer switch to control the wattage of the bulb I'm using. It's a 2 compartment incubator. (thermostat and bulb with lower and upper vent) and the other is just the dimmer switch for the bulb.Wired from the thermostat for cycling
