Im still trying to find if theres a cure for my ducks frostbit feet. Her feet are only frostbit around her toes i really dont want her to die, she's my best laying duck. Her toes look all curled up and shrivled(spell?) just wondering if anyone has had this before and there duck survived without having its feet fall off; and if there is will you tell me what i can do.

Not much you can do for frostbite, but doesn't mean she won't live though it. I would put antibiotic ointment on them and maybe some vasoline. The dead part should fall off, if it doesn't I would probably either get it clipped off or try to remove it on my own. Sorry not much help but you can't reverse Frostbite, my Roo has it too.

Cochinwomen - I googled "frostbite duck feet". Came up with a website called "Majestic Waterfowl Sanctuary" and in one of their health articles it said if a duck gets frostbitten feet, it should be taken to a vet for removing the dead tissue or partial amputation.

If it is only a little bit, I agree with willowcol.

I agree as well. The reason you would want to have it removed is so it doesn't get infected. If it is affecting the way she walks or swims, you would probably need to put her in a pen 24/7, so nothing could get to her. But if it is a small area, I doubt it would affect her.

Unfortunately there is no cure for frost bite, but it needn't be fatal. I 've encountered it more than once. The important things are to keep the animal dry and clean while healing is occurring. The dead part will slough off naturally when the nearby still living tissue is ready. Because the duck is at a disadvantage for a time make certain that she is eating and drinking okay & no-one is bullying her. Unless you see signs of infection I probably wouldn't medicate because poultry have seem to have good resistance to injury related infections. I wish you luck.
