My isa browns are now 22 weeks 4 days. They JUST started developing little wattles...very slow development on combs. I just checked the vent on one for the first time and it was very tiny, dry and tightly closed. Also pelvic bones were very close together. I checked her over for bugs and saw nothing.
If anyone recalls I made a post a cpl weeks ago asking if it was due to homemade feed. I really don't want to give in and buy commercial feed! I'm going to tractor supply to get the rooster booster poultry supplement for vitamins & minerals...I'm hoping adding that to the feed will help.
But if I we're to buy commercial feed, how long do you think it would take them to catch up? is it possible to never lay eggs if they aren't getting something specific they need?? I've read tons of blogs of ppl using homemade mixes that are way less beneficial than mine (like tons of corn) and have no problem with production.
They seem very happy and healthy, just way underdeveloped.

They look fine in the picture. Some production reds can begin laying at 17 weeks of age, but really that depends on the breed. Sounds like yours are just not ready yet. Once the combs seem a bit redder, and if you reach out to them and they do a hard squatting pose, that means they're ready to lay. It's not unheard of for pullets to take even 25 weeks to begin laying. Do your pullets have access to all the food they can eat? Do you keep the feeders filled? By the looks of it, they're doing fine.....

OK cool thank you. I am wondering if it's because I didn't realize they needed salt, and just started adding that in for a couple weeks now.

And I feed them twice daily in addition to foraging. They don't quite finish the feed.
