I have a 2 1/2 month old duck that had two blood feathers break after failed attempts to get the bleeding stop I took it to the vet and they pulled the feathers normally I guess the bleeding is supposed to stop but that didn’t happen so the vet but somthing on it to stop the bleeding. Got him home and with in a hour it was bleeding pretty bad again rushed him back to the vet and for some reason his blood isn’t clotting so they but one stitch we’re ther pulled each father. Does anyone know what I can do to keep him from trying to pull the stitches out because if he does his blood won’t clot.

can you call your vet again? I know of collars for parrots but I don't know if they would work for ducks.

Kind of hard to see I think it was the first two feathers on the tip of her wing. Sorry for the bad picture there is still a lot of dried blood it was bleeding pretty bad.

The vet said didn’t have any suggestions. But didn’t know if maybe someone on here might have tried something that worked. I’m just scared to leave him alon when I have to go to work because he keeps trying to pick at them

Your vet had no suggestions?! Ok... Well what about wrapping the wing? Like is done with angel wing? I would be really worried about going to work as well. Even with his wing wrapped. He could do a lot of damage if he pecks out his stitches. Can you leave him with someone or board him at the vet while you can't watch him?

My duck got a blood feather that was pulled at about that age, but it stopped bleeding.
