When I store fertile eggs, does it mean only if they were sent by post, if i collected them, would there still be a resting period? What temperature should I store them at? Humidity?

Thanks!

Very good article, ridgerunner!

I have a large cooler that will hold temps about 55 degrees with a two quart tupperware container full of ice. I change the ice once a day. The eggs go into egg cartons, and I can tip the entire cartons back and forth if keeping more than a week before incubating. I can easily store enough eggs for a small incubator this way. I have had a pretty good hatch out my eggs stored this way. If I am collecting for shipping, I turn from day one, even though only collecting for a few days, I figure they need all the help they can get.

If the eggs are straight into the incubator, I don,t rest them, but if coming out of the cooler, I let bthem come up to room temp before putting them in the ,bator. If they were shipped, I like to let them rest 8-24 hours in an upright position, hoping to get the aircell where it ought to be.
