storing turkey eggs before hatching

i just went out and found my first egg out of my bourbon red pair and i am just wonderin how to store the egg till i can go buy a incubator on payday i read somewhere that they had to be at like 70 degrees and what direction do you store them i plan on just hand turning so they will be on there side do i store them that way. thank you for looking and thanks for the help

I store a weeks worth in egg flats pointy end down and turn 3X daily. I try to keep the eggs at 55-60 degrees. I'm not saying I'm right, but it works for me.

ducks lay an egg a day covers it up and goes away til she has 10 to 15 eggs what ever she is happy with. they she will lay on them and hatch them the outside temp are cold. she does not turn them any til she is laying.

I collect turkey eggs and store them till I have a couple dozen for hatching. My hens lay at the forest edge in the brush in nothing but a scratched out depression of earth with some dry leaves. I just put the egg unwashed in a chicken egg carton with no lid, set it in the closet of a cool room on the floor so the temp doesn't get too warm. The floor is perfect. I've stored them that way for up to 2 weeks and got a decent hatch. One week is better.

I have an excellent old book on turkeys by Marsden and Martin. 70 degrees is too high. Optimal temps for eggs is 55-65 degrees, and should be turned regularly. They said after 14 days, the hatching rate goes down, but they will still hatch at 30 days old, just not as many. Hope that helps!

I kept mine in the fridge in an egg carton. Turned them at least twice, sometimes three times a day. Oldest was ten days old when it went into the incubator.

I have a small cooler (plug in ) 55 degrees have two turners that go in foam incubators 30 eggs each, so I can hold 60 eggs at 55 degrees, a week or so!!! tom!!
