So I have 14 Easter Eggers. I'm thinking I have quite a few roos. They are all so rambunctious and rowdy during playtime. I don't know about chicken behaviour but does rowdy=roo? They have also developed a trick of jumping on their waterer, and fighting over who gets on it. Would hens take part in this play? They are 1 week old.

Just wondering if you got straight run, how many roos did you get out of however many chicks?

Oh, that's good to know! They are so much fun to watch. One will get a "special" shaving and run around cheeping while the others chase it--so cute.

Thank you all that chimed in!!

I have yet to have any chicks but I have read ans heard that 50/50 is a good guess, but like other have said you really never know they grow up.

Speckled Sussex 3 roos out of 4 (but I lost one at a few days ,maybe it was a pullet)
Salmon Faverolles 2 roos out of 6

On a side note: out of 5 EE pullets from FFH (1 roo for sure, possibly a second one) Not certain the hatcheries are on their game this year!

i've only ever grabbed one out of a straight run bin, and i got a rooster...

But I went to a farm last summer the guys was selling chicks he got from McMurray I picked out 6 and only got one roo, but that one I really didnt look at too good.
