I have 4 Red Producer girls. I raised them from day 2 and now 2 years later, they are my babies. They all have been going through a molt for about 2-3 months now and instead of my usual 4 eggs a day, we've been getting one. The molt has seemed crazy long, but last year they did not molt at all and maybe this one has been extra long bc they didn't last year?? One has had fluid on her abdomen, will look awful and does the penguin walk, for the last 3 months or so, and we have been draining it off of her with a catheter needle every 2-3 weeks. For a day or two she will look terrible, then all of a sudden she will run around with the other girls with her tail and comb right back up! Today, I opened up the egg box and found one egg and this strange thing. It looked like a slim purple/blood colored egg with a thick shell. At first I thought it was a lash egg... but then I cut it open and found that it was filled with really thin albumin, almost water. Has anyone ever seen this? What is it? Should I be worried? The 'sick girl' looks great today, very happy.... not sure if this has anything to do with her other malady?? I have pics of the strange thing but this is my first post here and I don't see how to add a picture???
