Hey everybody.
I need help with my 1 1/2 year old cream legbar hen. Honestly I am at my wits end
she has always been a calm very gentle girl and doesn’t make much of a fuss. She and the Sussex rooster we have grew up together and she has always been his number one hen. He is very good to her and it’s all very beautiful.
Anyways, come this winter she has become increasingly lethargic and .. strange. She hangs out with him all day, eyes closed and resting. We ruled out egg bound, worms, mites, lice and vitamin deficiency. Now lately in the past week or so she has topped herself with strange behaviour.
she now chirps like a chick all day, yet stays still and rests by our rooster, and if he dares to move she will walk over to him and absolutely bury herself underneath him and stay that way all day. He cannot get away. It’s like she’s trying to .. be inside him?
we took her away into a cage and she went absolutely ballistic. I have no idea at this point what is going on. I don’t even think she’s eating anymore. Does anyone have any advice on what’s going on? She’s such a sweet girl and we really want to do all we can.
