Little favorite silkie rooster isn't doing better. He is so strange, I jsut can't understand. Someone need to help. I am getting heart surgery in two days, and I fear that he will die when someone else is taking care of him.

He looks normal. He is really skinny. WON'T EAT! I have been force feeding him for like 3 weeks.

He almost acts like a child with Autism. He walks around, looking at the ground or staring off into space. He shows no interest in food. If you drop something in front of him he doesn't even seem to see it, he looks past it. You can wave you hand in front of him, or try to scare him but he doesn't seem to see the world around him. But he's not blind. He doesn't run into anything. But he jsut walks around in his own little world. Is there anything I can do for him? He's not getting better, and he is fighting more when I try to feed him so it's getting harder and harder. I really love him, and want him to still be alive when I come home.

That is so weird!!!!! If it were me, I would take it too the vet. I know, take a CHICKEN to the vet. If you really care about him do that. If you don't think it is THAT bad, bring him with you.

How much are you force feeding him? Sometimes when they don't get enough food, they simply won't eat. Once you get enough nutrition into them they will get the energy to eat.

A grown silkie needs about 40cc per day. (Definitely not all at once.)

The vet isn't an option. There are no vets anywhere around that have any sense of birds. And I can not take him with me. It's a big expensive hospital and I'm getting heart surgery. They won't let me take a chicken in with me.

I will try to get more food down him. He is only about 3-4 months old. I'm not sure how much he gets. Quite a bit. Maybe I will measure it.

I do believe he has brain damage. He has to. He just doesn't act right.

Does he have a vaulted skull? Doesn't that make them more susceptible to brain/skull injuries?

To tell you the truth I'm not sure. But I think he may.

I have seen my mean little bantam rooster grab a hold of my silkies heads a few times, so I think thats what happened here.

If he does has brain damage, can it be fixed?

If it truly is neurological all you can do is wait and see, unfortunately.

I hope he's better today!
