My button quail pair have been laying eggs for almost a year now. The eggs are always brown and specked (they are wild colored buttons). But today my girl laid a sold white one! I’ve never see such a thing. What are the chances of the chick being an odd color as well? If that’s the case I think I’ll incubate it.

Oh no I’ve inspected the egg and they’ve poked at it to much and broke shell. I’m pretty sad and surprised because they’ve never done that to their eggs before

The pigment on the outside of the egg is applied like paint in their reproductive system. It would have no influence on the underlying genetics of the offspring. If she normally and consistently lays speckled eggs then my guess is this was a once off caused by stress. I love incubating eggs for just about any reason but it is unlikely that the offspring would inherit this trait if it's not a consistent thing that she does.
