I usually have brown eggs---every once in awhile I find an egg that is faded tan. It looks like it is sun faded. The first time I found 2 out in the run and thought they WERE sun faded. That was when we had over 100 degree heat. Now I find them in the coop every once in awhile and they still look sun faded. Tops and bottoms are different colors of tan and brown. At first I thought they were stale eggs so I have not cracked any to see the insides. Any info would be appreciated.

The way I saw it explained was that the 'color' of the egg is like 'spray paint' and one of the last things that occurrs in the egg making process....so if the eggs are lighter or darker it has to do with how long they were in the 'paint booth' and if they are two-toned, one part was in the 'booth' longer than the other. They are fine. Hope that makes some sense.

What about spotted eggs. My one hen that lays - Sometimes lays a dark tan egg, and sometimes we get a light tan with brown spots. Could these both be from her, or could one of my other hens started laying?

Probably as good an answer as any--LOL I don't worry about the spots off and on but these eggs are partially faded like they are sun bleached. Maybe they went too fast through the paint booth and didn't get covered.
