The pair are going on 18 to 19 months old. Unrelated male and female. We raised them in the house until they were a couple months old and bonded pretty closely with them. Even with the closeness, the female has always been standoffish, unlike our friendly male. I read so much about them early on, I’m aware this is very normal.
Goose - male
Willy - female
This morning Willy was acting very strange. Keep in mind, she is never like this. She keeps staring at the ground focusing on things like she’s going to eat them, then nips and moves on to more things. She won’t stop doing this and seems a bit disoriented. I grabbed her from behind and looked at her closely to see if maybe our mastiff got her through the fence or any injuries. Nothing. The fact that I was able to grab her was more shocking. She is normally flighty. As soon as I let go, she puts her head back down and keep staring at the ground.
Has anyone experienced this before? Has she eaten something toxic? They’ve lived in the acre bird area their entire lives. Is this normal behavior prior to (possible) breeding season? Or am I just going coocoo?
I’ll go grab a video and upload it.
