Strange feather losage around neck???

Two of my hens have started losing feathers around neck!!
Its not pecking either....

Last night i noticed a loss of feathers around neck,but still had the stem that the feather grows out of!!?? one of my hens dosnt have any feathers on her neck but has all stems with no feathers on them!!!!!all around her neck????

What is the deal???

Molting, probably. Have the same thing. It takes awhile for those to come back for some reason. Just be sure it isn't mites or something else. Even a couple of my 9 month old pullets had a mini-molt this year, in addition to my almost-two-yr-old girls. Bare just under the ear area around the neck, right?

Yes,one has a few bare spots under the ears,only stems.
the other has only stems all over neck...

They are only 8 months old.

I'd say dust them for mites/lice with DE or poultry dust, just to be certain that isn't the issue. After that, just wait and see.

Maybe this will make you feel better-see the Wyandotte on the left? Notice her bareness at the top of the neck. Now the feathers are growing back, but it took a couple of months.
