Strange hard bloody thing in nesting bin

Hi Folks,

So glad this community it out there I have consulted the site many times.My daughter and I are working on our second batch of hens. They all have been wonderful! However, tonight we went to put up the babies and found a hard but smooth liver shaped thing in the laying bin...Please see image. We dissected it. Haven’t ever seen anything like this. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

It's a lash 'egg', part of the reproductive system with am infection.

Thank you kindly for the links. Sad that means it’s likely one of my old ladies whose name is Maltese after artist Francesco Noletti because of her beautiful blend of colors. Prospects don’t look good.

I think it’s Maltese. We do laying pellets and vegetable compost and the occasional meat scrapes.

I’m sorry. That’s definitely a lash egg. If she were mine, I’d hit her hard with enrofloxacin or doxycycline, but sadly prognosis is not good with salpingitis.
