Have a Roo that will flop his head off to the side almost to his shoulders. Puts you in the mind of a swimmer thats knocking the water out of his ear or something like Weezie Jefferson when taking a stand to George shaking her finger and saying "oh, no you didn't"! with that head on a set of tracks - side to side movement. Is this common in some breeds or at least semi normal?

I've seen all my roosters do that at one time or another. No clue what it's about. I've never connected it to illness or injury.

So I guess just keep an eye on him, but he's probably fine.

Yeah, figured he was fine as far as illness/injury, hence the "behaviors" catagory. Thinking I should get a video of it...it's really quite extraordinary, to the point where you'd say "whoa". Well If I do the video, look for it in 2012...I'm on dial up.

My Cuckoo Maran roo as always done this as well...it's funny to see but we worried when we first saw him doing it.

hmmm, maybe someday there can be a side to side chicken head bob summit. Now I know I have to take the video. Funny indeed, most that stop by and see him doing it start laughing.

cya in 2012....
