Straw of Pine Chips

Which is better to use in the coop? In the chicken run? We live in the desert and have sand in the chicken run.

Different people have different preferences. I use sand in my coop as well as my run because it makes clean up so easy.

I use pine chips they are very absorbent and are easy to clean. Straw can get mold if it gets to wet and clump together and smell. I have never used sand so no help there .

I use pine shavings becouse i compost hay or straw has to much weed seed.
