Stray dogs

Lost my first chicken...a black australorp....to neighborhood strays.
Woke up to the sound of chicken screaming and then saw a flashlight pretty quick after wards.
Neighbor was out there chasing away a pair of dogs. He went through the neighborhood looking for them, while I did repairs to the run in the dark.

Crap.

No, no beefing up the fence, I will just have to coop them at nite.
I thought living in a town would be pretty safe and it has been since April.

But no longer.

pongoid I have read many posts by people living in the "city" who have lost chickens to various predators to include hawks. Hope the rest of the flock stays safe!

I was kind of suspicious of this neighbor because he was a weird old man with a boat and about 8 old cop cars who blared Jesus music in the morning.
I thought he was the one that called the police about my rooster, even though my rooster had just start crowing and very weakly with little volume.

But last nite he was so helpful, I can't imagine it was him.

I will thank him, yes.
